ECOWAS Lead Consultant on Private Sector Development
Delivering under Consultancy Contract, the Strategic Framework for ECOWAS Enterprise Development and Promotion. This is an elaborate framework document that provided for the set up of Structural fund and 7 pillar framework for enterprise development and promotion across ECOWAS. Also working on a range of initiatives on Private Sector Development with ECOWAS
World Bank Consultant on several projects on Trade Facilitation in Nigeria
Task Team Leader of the World Bank diagnostic assessment of institutional readiness and technical capacity of Lagos –Abidjan transit corridor countries of ECOWAS to build "Authorized Economic Operator" pilot.
Also carried worked on the establishment of National e-Trade Portal for Nigeria
DfID Consultant attached to Nigerian Ministerial Trade Facilitation Task Force
This is an Action body comprising 23 MDAs (including Federal Ministries of Finance, Commerce & Industry, National Planning, Transport, Central Bank, Customs etc) determined to remove the bottlenecks, suppress Non Tariff Barriers and drastically reduce the cost of doing business in Nigeria
UNECA/FAO Consultant on PPP in Agribusiness in Africa
Developed Case studies for UNECA/FAO on Private-Public Partnerships in Agribusiness in Nigeria. Also prepared similar report on PPP in Agribusiness in West Africa
Lead Consultant to Nigeria Presidential Committee on Export Promotion & Quality Improvement of Selected Agricultural Produce.
This nationwide project was designed and facilitated by me and involved the design and establishment of export processing and conditioning centres in 20 state of Nigeria and support in the selection of appropriate produce in which Nigeria has comparative advantages and building requisite agricultural production systems (including organic) and export marketing systems.
UN Expert (UNECA) on Agribusiness and Agro-Industry Development.
Led the Private Sector input on UN Expert Group meeting in Addis Ababa (Nov 2009) on Agribusiness and Agro-industry Development and in particular, Regional Value Chain.
Also led private sector participation on Africa Union Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) in Addis Ababa with Africa Ministers of Agriculture.
Lead Consultant to Africa Development Bank & Japanese Govt (ADB-FAPA) Project
The project is for strengthening the capacity of Africa Business Round Table to deliver its core mandate of Advocacy and being the global voice for Africa private sector and building associative capacity of intermediary Business Associations. The project seeks to raise the membership strength of the business associations; spread good corporate governance; increase engagement with inward investment; increase on-line web based resources, tools and methodologies; build sustainable export capacity and increase associative capacities.
EU Consultant on Trade Facilitation and Co-chair of Trade & Regional Integration of EU-Africa Business Summit Group (Forum), Brussels.
Also permanent Africa Private sector representative (ABR/NEPAD Business Group) at the EU-Africa Business Forum, Brussels.
Carried out series of studies and workshop for European Commission aimed at Trade facilitation and regional integration in West Africa, and in particular, a) identifying and suppressing "non-tariff barriers" (NTBs) to regional trade, free movement of goods and services; b) increasing private sector advocacy by strengthening their involvement in regional trade policy formulation, implementation and monitoring, and c) exploring the feasibility of developing alternative dispute resolution mechanisms (similar to EU – SOLVIT) for handling trade related disputes between traders and the trade cross border trade governance community on the interpretation of ECOWAS community trade laws.
Consultant to UNIDO & MICROSOFT
Consults for UNIDO on the set up of Business Information Centres in Nigeria
Work with UNIDO and Microsoft on a range of projects including:
Setting up, with UNIDO & Microsoft, Pan Africa ICT Observatory, which concept paper has been approved, and is awaiting funding for the development phase from EU.
Working with UNIDO & Microsoft in building a network of Business Information Centres (BIC) which will be rural and sub-urban based BICs will provide sustainable information and business support infrastructure for providing for MSMEs, multiple service platform such as enterprise awareness, start-up training, e-based services, trade portal, export assistance, information access, internet, broadband and email services, ICT training, access points for quality refurbished and guaranteed PCs.
Working with UNIDO, Microsoft and HP to set up Computer Refurbishment Plant in Nigeria following the successful one in Uganda
Working with UNIDO and Microsoft to implement NEPAD e-school and Digital Literacy Programme by supplying and setting up computer training resources in 100 secondary schools per state of Nigeria and spreading those to ECOWAS
Currently helping various Nigerian Govt. Ministries as Consultant:
a. FGN Agriculture – Strategic Lead of the Presidential Task Force on Export- and designed the Export Conditioning Centres. Involved with World Bank Commercial Agric Programme
b. FGN Commerce & Industry - Developing Trade Policy and mainstreaming Trade in development policies; Secured World Bank Support for Trade Facilitation Action Plan. Supporting Presidential Task Force on Trade Facilitation
c. FGN National Planning – Assisting with National Single Window and SME e-Trade Readiness programme and improving national readiness and absorptive capacity of Overseas AID programmes
d. FGN Labour & Productivity – preparing fundable project for "Retirement Empowerment Programme" and guiding the Ministry to implement a national Framework for delivering and monitoring employment and building capacity for entrepreneurship and employer – led work based initiatives.
e. The Police – Developing the Strategic Framework for National Security & Policing and also developing "Intelligence led, biometric knowledge based systems for tackling organized crime in Nigeria" working with the Donor communities
f. FGN Water Resources – Advising on PPP on sustainable self-financing Rural and Sub-urban pure water reticulation in the 774 Local Govt areas using non-saline water from ALL sources. Also linking with existing PPP on technical skills transfer and rural water borehole scheme targeted at the 774 Local Govt areas.
